Saturday, July 2, 2016. A day with friends and another visit to Minnekhada Regional Park.
We connected with friends yesterday. They dropped by around noon I think and then we drove over to Cora's in Coquitlam for a nice and healthy lunch before hitting the trails of Minnekhada.
Upon arriving in the park pretty much as we're getting out of the car we were told of, warned about bear sightings along the trails. After chatting with the friendly folk and organising ourselves we were off.
Only a few minutes into leisurely stroll we spotted a couple of bears just off the intersection of two trails. The bears were maybe 3 or 4 years old, not that I'm an expert and were quite skittish so they walked away from us and we from them. After about five minutes of walking and snapping photos of the many waxwings flitting about we spotted the bears in the water across the marsh from us, shutters were speedily capturing images of the two bears frolicking in the water. After our fill of watching the bears we were once again on our way.
We took in the limited view at Addington Lookout before wending our over and up to the High Knoll for a higher and more visible widespread view of the Pitt River and valley below. We took photos and rested for a spell before making our way down with a pit stop to examine some slime mould sitting atop a tree stump.
Once we were back down to the main trail we head back to the parking lot that was about 2.3 km ahead of us. Our pace slowed down to a snail's pace as we watched out for and avoided the hundreds of toadlets that scurried about and hopped along the trail...a challenging task with all us humans frequenting the trail, many of us unaware of these little guys underfoot.
On our drive back to the urban landscape another much larger crossed the road in front of us...a beautiful send off from the gift of nature...
Once arriving home we ordered up a bucket of fried chicken and all the fixings from Re-Up BBQ...delicious...and a couple of half sacks of beer to go along with it from the Paddlewheeler Pub Liquor Store...those most certainly hit the spot.
Our friends departed around 9:30pm and after a quick clean up of dishes and showers, we enjoyed the Canada Day Fireworks set off by the city of New Westminster from the comfort of our balcony...then it was off to bed.
A bit of sleeplessness and a couple of odd dreams later I was up and at 'em and off to a park bench perched along the Fraser River here in New Westminster around 630am...
...pigeons, seagulls, and a lone crow welcome me to the park bench...as I arrived around 6:45 the Sun was shining brightly but has since been shrouded by the gray clouds that fill the sky.
Today's Tarot Card is “V The Priest: The best way to help others is to help them make their own decisions. Wisdom. Advice. A ceremony or ritual.”
And today's Tarot Energy is all about “V The Priest" and helping others gain the knowledge, skills and self-confidence necessary for them to make their decisions. Helping them understand that they alone must decide on the actions they must take in their own lives to change or improve their situations or circumstances.
Thank You Spirit.
Namaste.
